BEHOLD, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone will open the door I will come in to him.
Revelation 3:20

Roger W. Babson established The Open Church Foundation on the principle that everyone needs a quiet place to communicate with God. During a crisis in his own life, he took a walk and found a church whose door was unlocked. In the quietness of this open church he found the welcome and comfort expressed in the twenty-third Psalm. "The Lord leads me...in quiet places...He restores my soul." Refreshed by his time of prayer, Roger Babson was moved to share this experience.

In August of 1942 Roger W. Babson and a group of interested laymen established The Open Church Foundation.

Objectives of the Open Church Foundation
  • to encourage churches and chapels to provide open doors and rooms, when possible, so that people everywhere can find a quiet place to communicate with God.

  • to encourage daily communication with God through Bible reading and prayer.

SHOUT for JOY, O heavens; REJOICE, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
Isaiah 49:13

Roger Babson found that one of the most effective ways to meet these objectives was through the printed page. He often said, "Since we cannot personally visit thousands of churches, the mailman must be our missionary." Therefore, since 1942 The Open Church Foundation has prayerfully endeavored to make available...
